Huawei
Athlone

Huawei was founded in 1987 and has quickly grown into one of the leading global providers of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. Huawei has over 170,000 employees as of September 2015, around 76,000 of whom are engaged in research and development (R&D). Ireland was identified as a new region for investment from Huawei, with hubs in Dublin, Cork and a new office in Athlone with the complete refurbishment and fit out of an area in the Athlone Town Centre.

We were selected to manage the transformation of this space, from a bare, unfinished shell and core to the high-spec fitout that would house Huawei’s 40 staff. One of the main challenges on this project was the starting point; our teams quickly got to work restoring this poorly maintained floor space in into a first-class office fitout. The project was completed under an extremely tight construction programme. The finished product expertly incorporates the previous, existing structure into the new space; defined by its now-exquisite, modern architectural design. With contrasting black and grey tones, the existing concrete columns are preserved; bringing industrial suggestions through to the sophistication of a high-spec, modern office. The general office area is open-plan, with generous space for collaborative work and there are smaller, more discreet huddle-booths for individual or group meetings. The canteen is bright, and spacious with clever design-solutions for this shared space. The executive meeting rooms and boardrooms all house the highest-spec A/V and communication technology; subsuming all the prowess you would expect from this global technology company.
